The Town Meeting Warrant Articles
There will be three Town Meeting warrant article to approve the compromised field plan. The small opposition group has presented a warrant article as well, with a smaller project, no lights, no amenities building and not enough bleacher seats - but at a similar cost! They have also failed to raise the private funds that are important to lessening the financial impacts to the town.
We are asking for YES votes at Town Meeting on the following articles:
ARTICLE EIGHT (8): Approving the reconstruction of the fields, bleachers and fixes the drainage among other infrastructure components. This vote will require a 2/3rds majority of all present at TM
ARTICLE NINE (9): Paying for the cost of the turf field. 2/3rds vote is necessary to approve this component
Article TEN (10): Approving the construction of lights at the fields. This is a simple majority vote, primarily to get a sentiment of the town to installing lights
Of course, we will also be voting on the opponents financially irresponsible warrant article. We urge you to vote in favor of the Advisory Committee's recommendation - No Action on that article as it comes with uncertain costs and without the benefit of more than 35 public meetings or professional studies. It is a dangerous precedent for the town- to approve warrant articles that have not been studied or vetted in open public settings.
